BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT

We choose to be baptized into Jesus death and resurrection. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is done in much the same way—it is a choice. This second baptism, like the first, is a stepping stone on our journey toward the image and likeness of Christ:

Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms… (Hebrews 6:1-2).

You will note the “s” on the word baptism, which suggests more than one. Actually, there are two baptisms in your Christian walk. You see this recorded in several instances in the Bible where people who have already been water baptized are encouraged to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
